Long overdue RL post :3
Aug. 17th, 2011 10:43 pm Okay, LJ peeps! Where did I leave you last time? Oh yeah, on a not so happy note. I've been more distant on the internet over past 3 months or so since that post for obvious reasons. Been a stressful time as you can imagine with all the redundancies.
I'll start there then. Ironically work has been even busier since the announcements, like almost impossibly busy. But redundancies still went ahead, I didn't make the cut (I think I mentioned that last time?). Apparently I dealt with the stress of losing my job well LOL, what do they know, I got anxiety and started sleep walking ^_^;; but hey, it's all about appearances right?
Anyway, I got my notice of how much redundancy pay I would be getting - zero. This is fine I've only been there a year so it was to be expected and in all honesty, its not the company's fault. The site is hemorrhaging £150,000k PER MONTH due to the loss of the Pulmicort brand, so they're doing what they have to to save it. Good luck to them, I really mean that and if they survive then I'm certainly not one to burn my bridges. Well at least I try not to.... >_>;;
Meanwhile I did have my London trip with
valielen to look forward to so that was a focal point for me, until.... RIOTS!! D< Can you effin' believe it?!?! Riots in London, right where I was supposed to de-stress AUUUUGGHHH!! They spread like wildfire across the country, I won't go into the politics of it all, I have my own opinions which I'm happy to discuss with anyone privately, but I'm not bringing politics into this post, it's a sensitive issue as you can imagine. Anyway, 16,000 police officers were despatched to London and we decided to go for it.
What a decision!!! We saw one armed police man and a whole convoy of riot vans zoom past Buckingham palace but that was it. I am honestly astonished at how very busy London is. I've never been and I'm a small town girl, so colour me naive :p The sight seeing was fabulous - my feet hated me throughout lol, but I loved the palace and London and travelling on the tube with an oyster card :3 and the Dir En Grey concert in club KoKo was very enjoyable!!! We got all gothed up :D well I tried to *giggles* My personal achievement: I managed to put on eye liner MYSELF and not poke self in eye XD
Here are pictuuuuures :D plus.google.com/u/0/photos/109156146925627043101/albums/5641575864534166305
Unfortunately, had to come back to work. So back home obviously stress is building and I internalise everything so anxiety and upset stomach and headaches and sleep loss became routine - wow way to lay it on thick, Wick :p I did however got an interview!! Sadly I did not get that job BUT, I had another interview the week after and yesterday I got that call.....
I GOT THE JOB!!!!
Yay some good news for Wick!!!! About time right? I personally am a little worried as it really does seem too good to be true. The pay is, well it's paid weekly and it's more money than I've ever had. My two weeks pay will be more than what I earned in my very first job as shop assistant per month!! It starts on days, will eventually move to shifts once I'm settled and is a 6 month rolling contract with a very reputable pharmaceutical company :D Eli Lilly, anyone?
I handed my notice in today, I finish on the 26th Aug and start on 12th Sept, so I've given myself some breathing room. I'm also eligible for a final week's pay free of tax and national insurance from my current company for working my redundancy notice period and more which will be nice :3
My car is getting reclaimed by the finance company next Thursday too. (Remember poor Berry's engine seized up?), he is too expensive to repair for me and the finance company tell me I'm not liable to pay anything!!! YAAAAY!!! :D
In slightly owie news, I fell off my bicycle on the way home on Monday, avoiding hitting a toddler who ran in front of my building, I suppose you have to take the rough with the smooth don't you? (It was sadly on the day I was still bummed from not getting that other job). I was a bit bloody and bruised so really, getting this new job the next day was absolutely wonderful.
There so that's your update. Oh wait!! I'm going looking at a cheap little car on Friday 600gbp and only 19k miles on the clock, a little Fiesta, I hope I can find 600 quid to buy it if it's decent and then everything will have fallen into place.
Now I know they call it paying your dues, but seriously.... I'm struggling to enjoy it (once all the caffeine and sugar induced bounciness had worn off), because good things just DON'T happen like this.... I'm a bit 0_0;;;; shell shocked for want of a better term to be honest.
I'm hoping quietly, that it's all karma and things will go a little smoother for a while ^_^;;; wish me luck.
Thanks to my wonderful few friends who have listened to me whine and splurge and vent and cry and stress through all of this, I know I don't make things easy on you, so thank you for being my friend and sticking by me.
You mean the absolute world to me.
