Dentist and other things
May. 12th, 2011 09:32 pmIt is rather shocking how one can become so reliant on having a car. I honestly thought I wasn't going to miss it too much as I live fairly close to work now.
So my big news is: Berry finally bit the bullet. He won't even start now due to the engine having an oil leak so he's quietly sat in the car park gathering dirt. It's sad because when he runs he was a great little car and he would be again, I can simply not afford to maintain him or get him repaired. However the car is still on finance until February so all I can do is declare him off road.
*Has a moment for Berry*
The positive side to this is; I will save a great deal of money. Petrol is simply extortionate now and that's something I don't have to worry about, nor is road tax, or car maintenance or insurance. That's quite a few pennies right there. Also it's forced me to get back on my bicycle. I have to cycle to and from work every day now. My body protests this as it's gotten far too used to being a slob, that has to change!
It's been almost a week since it died and the only day I missed it was today. Today I couldn't go to work due to my wisdom tooth teething and causing inflammation of the gum and subsequent infection, which any of you who have had toothache can probably validate, is one of the worst pains I can think of. Imagine being hit in the face with a baseball bat repeatedly and that's pretty much how it feels.
Now because I've not long since moved and I had a car, I hadn't thought to register at a new NHS dentist. This was fail on my part as the pain prevented sleeping last night and I desperately needed treatment. So began my adventure rediscovering the joy (not so much) of public transport.
>.<
No information anywhere of what bus to take to get to the walk in centre. I had to rely on the good nature of my work mates to tell me which buses to take. And are they really so expensive now?? :o
To be fair it's been about 10 years since I last HAD to use a bus, I do not like being in a cramped space with strangers, I have mild sociophobia and so this makes me rather uncomfortable and tense, which of course only adds to toothache!
Now this adventure would have ended well, had the local council updated their fraggin' website informing lamen folk like me that their walk in centre had shut down: IN JANUARY !!!!! DD<<<<
I stood outside the place where it used to be, fighting back tears at this point. Thankfully workmates to the rescue, gave me a number to call to find a dentist. Got put through to the ONE dentist in the whole of Runcorn that would take emergency appointments, right back where I started >.< so back onto the bus I went. It did however mean I had no time to go to work and so I will not get paid for today, even though I had to pay out quite a bit for treatment.
Thankfully the dentist lady was really nice and gave me antibiotics and made me feel at ease, so glad she was nice, I'm always nervous about professionals who just tend to see you as a pay packet.
So today I really missed my car, I could have driven to my old dentist and gotten seen and been at work before lunch. Instead I spent most of the day in a pain!coma and poking poor
So yesterday if I was short on IM -- pain. Many pains!! Pain makes a very crabby!wick, pain and lack of sleep = murderous!wick. ^_^;;;; you are all so patient with me, so thank you (you all know who you are). <3
Anyway that's my random update.
In good news, I have treatment and hopefully the pain will stop by the time I fly to the US to meet
Now there should be tea! And maybe something nice..... *wanders off for noms* I earned it after dealing with the fail of the NHS.
Oh before I forget; a Singapore company requested to view my C.V. that is EXCITING it means my C.V. is getting noticed, here's hoping!! :D

They catagorically don't deal with it over here, so it wouldn't even cross my mind to go to a GP for it ^_^;;
Hope you had a nice trip btw :3
