Ending one
The ceremony was respectably brief, the celebration afterward would be city wide. The bondmates would join the parade through the city. Prowl stood tall, proud, waiting at the iron gates. He was the only one not smiling, nothing would make him smile now and later in life his stoicism would earn him the reputation of a cold and distant mech.
He was far from cold, simply bonded to his duty. He watched as the bondmates left the palace and Optimus smiled at Prowl as he and Jazz drew close. Bowing to them both, Prowl took up his position behind them, optics flicking once to their joined hands.
Jazz looked over his shoulder and offered him a sad, regretful smile, reaching out to him with his optics, hoping for some solace that he’d done the right thing.
Meeting the questioning look in that earnest visor, Prowl gave the subtlest of smiles, one that would forever be marred with an untold sadness and a small nod of reassurance for his friend, his Prince.
Returning the nod with an unsteady intake, Jazz turned back to face the city, and walked out of the gates with his bondmate in hand and his friend following behind, to meet his future.
