“You have GOT to see this.” Sari hissed as she sprinted into the living area, coming to a halt right in front of the TV.

Whining, Bumblebee gave her a pained look as he looked over her. “Not now, Sari… got to beat Bulkhead.”

“You’re not beating anybody.” Bulkhead chuckled, his fingers moving furiously over the controller.

“Those are fighting words.” Bumblebee retorted, shifting to stand on the sofa as he punched the buttons repeatedly.

“Guys seriously!” Sari insisted, heading over to the TV and switching it off to a chorus of protesting hollers. “You’re not going to believe what I just saw!”

Scowling petulantly at the girl, Bumblebee slumped down into the sofa. “This better be good.” He muttered.

“Would I interrupt your games for anything less?” Sari planted her hands on her hips and glared pointedly at the minibot.

“C’mon ‘Bee… I’m kinda curious as to what she saw now.” Bulkhead encouraged, nudging the sulking minibot’s leg.

“Fine. But I swear if this is another one of those rodent thingies—“

“—it’s not a rodent thingy.” Sari retorted. “And you’re a robot why were so freaked out by the mouse anyway?”

“It was small and could crawl in places.” Bumblebee shuddered and looked disgusted, his optics widening at Sari who stared at him blankly.

“For a giant alien robot, ‘Bee, you kinda suck.” Sari grinned teasingly.

“Hey! Now you’re just being mean.”

“Do you want to hear what I saw or not?”

The two ‘bots waited expectantly, their attentions now finally focused on Sari. “This better be good.” Bumblebee muttered.

“You know how Prowl never seems to smile or enjoy anything and has that look of disdain a lot at what we do and can move really good, like jump really high and do all that ninja stuff?”

“This isn’t new to us.” Bumblebee started with confused look. “If you’re going to tell us you saw Prowl then –“

“—Are you going to let me finish?” Sari butted in, her grin growing wider. “Well I think we’ve been wrong about him this whole time.”

“What do you mean, Sari?”

“I think he’s like a cat!” She stated confidently.

Stealing a look at ‘Bee who shrugged nonplussed. Bulkhead frowned. “Um, what’s a cat?”

“It’s an animal we keep as a pet. They’re independent, picky about people, generally like to keep to themselves, they have these faces that make them seem like they’re giving you a really condescending look and they’re really fussy about who they let cuddle or pet them but when they are petted they’re such softies and they purr when they’re content and when they’re being affectionate.”

Looking at the girl with his mouth slightly open in what was a very gormless expression, Bumblebee shook his helm. “Still not getting how this is linked to Prowl.”

“Well I saw him!” Sari stated, more like screeched in glee. “With Jazz and he was petting him LIKE A CAT and he was purring! PURRING!”

Turning his helm slowly to meet Bulkhead’s astonished gaze, Bumblebee folded his arms. “I’m not buying that!”

“Didn’t think you would. That’s why I’m going to show you!” Sari answered proudly, transforming so she could fly and lead the way. “Be quiet though.”

The three mechs approached Prowl’s room at the back of the base as quietly as they possibly could; even Bulkhead managed not stand on Bumblebee on the way there. One by one the peeked into the ninja’s room through the hole in the makeshift door that Prowl had fitted shortly after he had claimed the room.

“I’m not seeing anything.” Bulkhead hissed, glancing at Sari.

The girl frowned as she peered in. Her eyes flitted between Jazz who was guiding Prowl on his kata work, instructing him on technique and style. Huffing indignantly, Sari pulled away with a scowl. “I swear I saw them!”

“Pffft!” Bumblebee snorted, already heading back to the room. “You know I should have realised it was a prank. I mean Prowl, purring. COME ON!” The minibot laughed at the thought, completely amused. “Good one, Sari, you almost had us!” He grinned, disappearing down the corridor as he called out to Bulkhead to finish their game.

“But I did see them.” Sari muttered, her blue eyes glaring at the closed door. Leaning closer she peered back inside the room and her mouth fell open as she watched Jazz step around Prowl, his hands guiding him into the right position, before his free hand reached up to caress lightly over Prowl’s helm with a fond smile, eliciting a very obvious purr from the normally stoic ninja as his visor dimmed and his mouth spread into a pleased smile, his helm tilting into the affectionate touch.

Pressing her mouth together in determination, Sari shook her head. “Just like a cat!” Rushing off to her room to retrieve her video camera, Sari stopped and looked down the corridor thoughtfully. “I wonder if they respond to treats…”
